Site Update and Request for Info

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 18 months since I made any updates here. Many thanks to the several thousand users that have downloaded RadioControl since then, pushing the grand total of downloads well past 10,000.

I am unable to provide any updates to RadioControl at this time. It still works correctly on your Treo 180/180g/270/300/600/650, with the following possible exception.

A user contacted me to ask about an oddity on his 650 with GSM update 1.20 ENA. According to the user, when RadioControl turns the phone on it does not pick the network's name but instead reads "No service - SOS OK". Despite this, the signal strength is full and the phone works perfectly.

If you've had a similar experience with RadioControl, please feel free to add a comment here. I apologize again for not being able to solve the problem, but did want to make potential users aware of this aesthetic glitch. Update: Confirmed! Please read comments!

Thanks again for the kind words over the years, and please continue to enjoy RadioControl.

I took the plunge!

I bought me a bright shiny new Treo 650, and wow, what a sweet unit. Look for a new version of Radio Control in the next few weeks - having a 650 makes me want to write a new RC just to do it justice. (And yes, I am posting this from my 650 - sweet.)

Radio Control Recommended in Book!

Radio Control has been recommended in the book How to Do Everything with Your Treo 600. I picked up a copy myself (even though I only have a 300) - it's very well done. Click the link and check it out!

8000th Radio Control Download!

A dial-up user from Australia became the 8000th user to download Radio Control earlier today. 8000 downloads exceeds anything I could have imagined when I published the first version of Radio Control 18 months ago. Thanks all for the e-mails and discussion board posts that helped to promote the program. I'd offer a special price in light of this momentous occasion, but hey, it's already free, so go get it :)

New and Improved Website

As anyone who has visited the site before is sure to notice, I've changed the site dramatically. The new site now uses Drupal to manage its content. Drupal is very slick content management system - if you're looking for a new CMS you should definitely consider checking it out.

Radio Control Updated for Treo 650

Responding to several requests from 650 users feeling left out, I have updated Radio Control to work correctly on their new toys. A new radiocontrol650.prc is now included along with the existing radiocontrol.prc in the download available from here. Enjoy!

Radio Control

Radio Control ScreenshotThis program solves two quirks with Treo Communicators. The first is the fact that the radio (wireless mode) is always off after a soft-reset, which can be annoying if the user forgets this feature. The first choice the program gives the user is whether or not they want the radio to come on after a reset.

The second function of the program allows the user to set an on and off time for the radio. This allows the user to have the radio come on or turn off at specific times, a great way to save batteries if you're not expecting calls for a certain period each day. Clicking "Clear" sets both times to "Never".

You may download it freely here.
